Logic nylon leaders

For fly fishermen, presentation and precision are essential, particularly in how the fly behaves in the water to effectively deceive the target fish. The fly must always exhibit a natural motion, harmonizing with the river’s flow and currents.

During my early years as a fly-casting instructor and passionate fly fisherman, I dedicated considerable time to perfecting this aspect of our gear. It became evident that selecting the right equipment was crucial for achieving success in both fly-casting and fly fishing.

Even the finest rod is ineffective without an ideal match of line and leader/tippet setup. Among these components, our leader plays a pivotal role, influencing both the finesse of our cast and the energy transfer. Unfortunately, leaders are often overlooked in the fly fishing industry, but we prioritize their significance.

Our Logic nylon leaders are expertly tapered based on profiles we have developed and refined over 35 years, consistently proving their reliability in various conditions, whether with floating or sinking lines.

The Logic nylon leaders feature a soft core, and many come equipped with a convenient pre-made perfection loop at the end for effortless leader changes. Available in nine sizes, these tapered knotless nylon leaders are designed to meet a variety of fishing situations.

Each Logic nylon leader is crafted using our exclusive G&G system. By considering your line weight (loading weight) and the size of the fly you plan to use, you can choose the most suitable Logic nylon leader for optimal performance. Please see our recommendations below for each tapered Logic nylon leader.

  • Logic Nylon Leader 0.40 mm – For Line Weight 28 g (432 gr) to 35 g (540 gr)

When using wet flies (i.e., double hook sizes 6 – 8 and 1-inch plastic tubes), add 2.5 feet of 0.40 mm or 0.38 mm tippet material to achieve a maximum total length of 5.9 m (19.5 feet).

If using larger wet flies (i.e., double hook sizes 2 – 6 and ½-inch brass tubes or larger), use the leader as it is, resulting in a total maximum length of 5.2 m (17 feet).

  • Logic Nylon Leader 0.37 mm – For Line Weight 26 g (401 gr) to 31 g (478 gr)

When using wet flies (i.e., double hook sizes 6 – 8 and 1-inch plastic or ¼-inch aluminum tubes), on a line weight of 26 g (401 gr), keep the leader length to 4.8 m (15.8 feet). If using smaller flies, i.e., single hook sizes 6 – 10 and ½-inch plastic tubes, add 2 feet of 0.37 mm or 0.34 mm tippet material to achieve a maximum total length of 5.4 m (17.8 feet).

When using wet flies (i.e., double hook sizes 6 – 8 and 1-inch plastic or ¼-inch aluminum tubes), on line weights between 28 g (432 gr) and 31 g (478 gr), add 3 feet of 0.37 mm tippet material to achieve a maximum total length of 5.7 m (18.8 feet). If using larger wet flies (i.e., double hook sizes 2 – 6 and ½-inch brass tubes or larger), add 2 feet of 0.37 mm tippet material to achieve a maximum total length of 5.4 m (17.8 feet).

  • Logic Nylon Leader 0.34 mm – For Line Weight 22 g (340 gr) to 24 g (370 gr)
